It didn’t take long. Join us for the latest instalment from the 2019 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), when some of this event’s long-established crushers bared their teeth.

BEHIND THE HEADLINES
It only took two days, but already the king of ‘COOPs, Shaun “shaundeeb” Deeb, is in WCOOP 2019’s winner’s enclosure. After a heads-up battle for the purists against last year’s WCOOP Player of the Year Denis “aDrENalin710” Strebkov, Deeb sealed the deal in WCOOP-09-H, the NL 5-Card Draw PKO event. Deeb won $10,500 plus another $14,875 in bounties and secured his seventh WCOOP title. More significantly, perhaps, he denied Strebkov his 10th title. Both of these guys justified their billing among our list of Players To Watch.
As Deeb later tweeted, this time of year is lucky in more ways than one for him. He won a WCOOP title three years ago but ended up missing his son’s birth to do so. Then last year he won another title on Chance’s birthday. This year he broke the sequence, but only by winning a title 90 minutes before the big day.
Well as many of you know 3 years ago I missed my son chances birth to play wcoop on the day he was born I ended up winning the 5cd high event last year I also won an event on his bday and sadly this year I will not continuing the trend instead I win the 5cd high 90min before it

Another all-time WCOOP beast, Russia’s Gleb “Ti0373” Tremzin, picked up a fourth WCOOP success in WCOOP-10-H NLHE Turbo re-buy. Tremzin won his first two WCOOP tournaments in 2012, then added a third in 2015, and demonstrates his longevity by continuing to dominate the online felt. His victory over a 557-entry field banked him $50,634.31. (We looked at Tremzin’s WCOOP record this time last year.)
It was a similar story of long-proven consistency when Canada’s Thomas “sandman201” Taylor roused from his slumber to win the WCOOP-05-H HORSE title, denying Luke “lb6121” Schwartz a victory. Taylor’s success came more than seven years since he won his first ‘COOP title. Taylor also won a SCOOP HORSE event last year, picking up the title in an $11 buy-in version. And given that his first SCOOP title came in a medium buy-in event, he now completes a very rare hat-trick: ‘COOP titles at all three buy-in levels. Taylor is evidently still playing all the levels: he cashed the low buy-in HORSE event too, in 11th place.
There was a further blast from the past in the WCOOP-04-M event when Alan “Mr Negreanu” Gold won, er, gold. He’s a former WCOOP Player of the Series, having topped the leader board in 2014, cashing 17 times from the 66 events on offer that year. This was his first outright victory though, and banks him $13,518, holding off Ari “BodogAri” Engel for victory. He also came fifth in the $109 5-Card Draw yesterday, for a further $1,800. Despite continuing to rack up these cashes, there’s one thing Gold still can’t buy: a name change. “I hate my screen name,” he told us in 2014. “It’s cringey! I think I picked it in 2003 after watching Daniel on TV. What I would give to change it!”
Last year’s dominant WCOOP nation, Brazil, has already taken over top spot in this year’s countries leader board. Brazilian players went 1-2 in WCOOP-04-L, and occupied three of the top five spots, and also placed in three of the top four positions in WCOOP-04-M, and five of the top nine.

Meanwhile, @IrEgption had some advice for all those players who haven’t yet struck gold.
Who wants to start wcoop with a 6 figure score anyways. True winners moan for at least a week before they find success.
